BK Virus Pneumonia with CMV Colitis in a Kidney Transplant Recipient: Successful Treatment with Non-Cidofovir Based Therapy

چکیده
BK virus (BKV) pneumonia is a rare entity especially seen in immunosuppressed patients, for which cidofovir the used treatment option. We describe case of young female patient who presented altered kidney function six months following transplantation focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and was found to have BKV nephritis. Her in-hospital stay complicated by requiring mechanical ventilation, addition CMV colitis. She treated with leflunomide/ciprofloxacin ganciclovir her colitis, respectively. The improved clinically except that deteriorated. Leflunomide/ciprofloxacin combination may constitute an effective safe alternative pneumonia, particular when not available. Treatment of Cytomegalovirus Infection with Cidofovir and CMV Immune Globulin in a Lung Transplant Recipient
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection after lung transplantation is associated with increased risk for pneumonitis and bronchiolitis obliterans as well as allograft rejection and opportunistic infections. Ganciclovir is the mainstay of prophylaxis and treatment but CMV infections can be unresponsive. Apart from direct antiviral drugs, CMV immunoglobulin (CMVIG) preparations may be considered but are ...
متن کاملHigh-grade urothelial carcinoma in a kidney transplant recipient with BK virus infection
Bladder malignancy in the kidney transplant recipient is rare and compared with the general population tends to be of high grade and have an aggressive clinical course. In this report, we describe a case of urothelial carcinoma developing in a kidney transplant recipient 6 years after the diagnosis of polyomavirus nephropathy (PVN). BK virus (BKV) DNA was identified in urine and serum by PCR. T...

متن کاملSuccessful pregnancy in a kidney transplant recipient with chronic hepatitis B virus infection.
Overall success rate of pregnancies in kidney transplant recipients is higher than 90% if pregnancy goes beyond the 1st trimester. Risks to mother include hypertension, preeclampsia, infections, and worsening proteinuria, and those to the fetus are prematurity, intrauterine growth retardation, and low birth weight. Hepatitis B infection is associated with progressive liver disease and diminishe...
متن کاملLate-onset BK viral nephropathy in a kidney transplant recipient.
BK polyoma viral infection occurs as an asymptomatic infection in a high proportion of normal hosts without obvious sequelae. In the kidney transplant population, the virus is reactivated because of reduced immunity and, if not appropriately managed, can lead to BK viral nephropathy, which has emerged as a common cause of acute kidney injury and progressive chronic kidney disease in renal trans...
